Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has declared his intention to contest for the Agege Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Obasa made the declaration on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting in Agege, where he said leaders of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the constituency had urged him to join the race.
“I am here because the leaders of our party in Agege have called on me to step forward and represent them at the federal level,” he said.
At the meeting, the Speaker also rallied support for two of his allies seeking seats in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
He endorsed Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi for Agege Constituency I and backed Azeez Oladapo Yusuf Ninolowo for Agege Constituency II.
Obasa urged party members and supporters to mobilise ahead of the party primaries to ensure their preferred candidates emerge victorious.
His declaration further swells the list of aspirants jostling for the APC ticket in Agege ahead of the primaries, as loyalists of various contenders intensify mobilisation efforts across the constituency.
