Human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, has reacted after her party reportedly decided against conducting primary elections for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development was announced in a statement shared on Yesufu’s official page, where she disclosed that while senatorial primaries would not hold, the party would proceed with House of Representatives primaries within the FCT.
According to the statement, party members and supporters were encouraged to remain focused on the broader political goal of the 2027 presidential election.
“Our party has decided not to conduct primaries for the Senatorial seat in FCT Abuja. It however intends to conduct primaries for House of Representatives. Go ahead and make your choice known!” the statement read.
Yesufu also appealed for calm among her supporters, stressing the need to keep attention on national priorities.
“I urge each and everyone of you to remain calm and focus on the bigger picture which is the presidential election. Nigeria will be OK!” she added.
The activist further appreciated supporters of the #AishaForSenate campaign, thanking them for their dedication and commitment.
She also revealed plans to revisit the six Area Councils in the coming week to appreciate residents for their support and continue advocating for a “Better FCT.”
