Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board,(LASUBEB) has commended Ibironke Adeagbo Foundation for its contribution towards the reduction of out-of-school children in the state.
IA-Foundation is a UK and Nigerian registered non-profit organization that is working towards reducing the number of out-of-school children in Nigeria.
Through various thematic strands that cut across advocacy, provision of bursary and education scholarships, capacity development and mentoring, the Foundation has helped over 100 out-of-school children from low-income communities to access quality education across several states in Nigeria.
The Foundation has also distributed over 3,000 learning materials and have impacted children across 9 states in Nigeria.
A permanent member of the Board, Honourable Shijuade Idowu-Tiamiyu gave the commendation during a brief partnership meeting with a delegation team of IA-Foundation led, the Vice Chair Mr. Diran Famakinwa FCA.
The meeting was also attended by the Programmes and Partnerships Manager, John Klutse and the Executive Assistant, Tinuade Daniel.While addressing the guests about the importance and implication of taking one child off the street, Hon. Shijuade lauded the Foundation for provide quality education for about 100 children.
“When we talk about impact, it is beyond the numbers. Your organization has helped about 100 out-of-school children. This number may look insignificant when we look at it against the total number of out-of-school children in the state or Nation at large. But convert those 100 children to criminals; convert them to prostitutes or kidnappers, then we will begin to understand the impact of helping 100 children off the street.
“Every child on the street without quality education is a potential threat to the society and so for every child your Foundation takes back to school, you have secured their future,” Honourable Shijuade said.
She encouraged the Foundation to continue to play its own part, remarking that no many organizations is really doing the work.
She reiterated that the government of Lagos state is strategic in its approach to reducing the out-of-school children in the state and very open to partner with individuals, civil society organizations and private sector organizations to ensure that no child is left behind through the Project Zero initiative.
