A helicopter carrying four persons including the pilot has crashed at Oba Akran Avenue of Ikeja, the Lagos State capital on Tuesday evening .
The National Emergency Management Agency(NEMA), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), security operatives and other emergency responders were seen evacuating victims and cordoning off the crash scene just as sympathizers also swarmed the site
The NEMA which confirmed it said that the Helicopter marked 5NCCQ Airfirst Hospitality and Tour Ltd crashed near Lagos Airport.
NEMA in a statement said its staff and that of LASEMA,Fire Service, security Agencies and other stakeholders carried out search and rescue operation.
Two crew members and two passengers rescued from wreckage, it stated.
The helicopter falls off the sky around 4pm and hit the ground in front of a branch of the United Bank of Africa located along the road on Oba Akran Avenue.
Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyinto, an official of NEMA said the agency had activated its disaster response plan to the above incident which occurred around 1600hrs.
“A helicopter containing 4 persons including the pilot crash landed in front of the United Bank of Africa branch on the road.
“All four casualties have been retrieved from the aircraft alive. They have been transferred to hospital for further care.
“The area has been cordoned off and is being blanketed to prevent a secondary incident.
“All Emergency Responders are on scene,” he stated.
