OSOGBO — Ogun State indigenes and students resident in Osun State have endorsed the re-election bid of Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The endorsement was made on Wednesday, August 12, at a meeting in Osogbo attended by representatives of Ogun State indigenes living in Osun, students from Ogun State studying in institutions across Osun, and the Ogun State Chairman of the Accord Party, Hon. Oke Rotimi Michael.
The delegation, led by Rotimi, urged Ogun indigenes and students resident in Osun State to vote massively for Adeleke, who is seeking a second term on the platform of the Accord Party.
Speaking on behalf of Ogun indigenes resident in Osun, the State Coordinator, Mr Bola Adegbenro, said the developmental projects undertaken by the Adeleke administration were too visible to ignore.
“Even a blind man can feel the impact of the administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke ever since he assumed office,” Adegbenro said.
He cited interventions in road infrastructure, education, healthcare, water supply and grassroots development as evidence of what he described as a government committed to delivering the dividends of democracy.
Among the projects highlighted were the rehabilitation and construction of roads along the Osogbo-Iwo corridor, Otan Ayegbaju-Iresi Road and Ede-Egbedi-Erin Osun Road, as well as road and flyover projects in urban areas.
Adegbenro also referenced government-reported figures indicating the rehabilitation of more than 150 kilometres of roads, upgrades to more than 100 schools, refurbishment of 200 health centres and the execution of 332 water projects across the state.
On behalf of Ogun students in Osun, the Chairman of the Federation of Ogun State Students in Osun State (FOSSOS), Comrade Lawal Taofeek Oluwaseun, commended Adeleke for what he described as efforts to create a conducive academic environment in the state’s tertiary institutions.
He specifically mentioned projects at Osun State University (UNIOSUN), including a 52-unit building, the completion of previously abandoned projects, the Faculty of Computing Building, a 500-seat lecture theatre and a three-in-one laboratory complex with a capacity for 1,500 students.
He also highlighted developments at the University of Ilesa, including the provision of a take-off grant and the commencement of infrastructure projects, among them the institution’s first student hostel.
Rotimi said the developments recorded under Adeleke were only “a tip of the iceberg,” arguing that continuity and good leadership would enable the state to achieve more.
“As Ogun State Ambassadors in Osun State, I humbly urge you all to know that Senator Ademola Adeleke is the best for the topmost political position in Osun State,” he said.
He appealed to Ogun indigenes residing in Osun, particularly students and youths, to participate in the election and exercise their constitutional right to vote.
Rotimi also pledged, on behalf of the Accord governorship candidate in Ogun State, Alhaji Agbongboakala Olaniyi Okewole, that an Accord-led administration in Ogun would prioritise students’ welfare, including a comprehensive review and improvement of the state’s bursary scheme for students enrolled in tertiary institutions across the country.
He said students’ welfare should be viewed as an investment in the future of the state rather than as favouritism.
Rotimi further urged Ogun indigenes and students in Osun to remain peaceful and law-abiding throughout the electoral process.
“Go out and vote. Ensure that your vote is protected through lawful and constitutional means. Do not allow anybody to threaten or deny you your freedom of choice of leaders whom you want to lead you,” he said.
The delegation subsequently urged eligible voters among Ogun indigenes and students resident in Osun State to come out in large numbers on Saturday, August 15, to vote for Adeleke in the governorship election.
