Former governor of Ekiti State and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ayodele Fayose, has threatened to bare more details of what transpired between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State during their recent meeting in Mina, Niger State.
The threat on Thursday followed Atiku’s dismissal of Fayose’s alleged political arrangements involving Makinde as “desperate,” “baseless” and “shameless concoction.”
Atiku also accused Fayose of always seeking relevance by purveying “political gossip.”
The ex – governor of Ekiti State, however,
threatened to expose details of the Minna meeting with former Head of State, Gen Ibrahim Babangida.
The Daily Crucible reports that the reaction comes after reports of a closed-door meeting between Atiku and Makinde at Babangida’s Minna residence.
Fayose had in a post shared on his official X handle on Wednesday alleged that Governor Makinde went to Minna, Niger State, on Tuesday to hold a meeting with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Fayose claimed that during the meeting, consideration was given to the fact that Peter Obi would not accept to be Atiku’s running mate and that the ex – governor of Anambra State would also not be acceptable to the North, as the Turaki Adamawa’s successor.
He alleged that Makinde had agreed to join ADC, make available the sum of N10bn as his initial contribution towards what he called “proper take-off of the ADC” and mobilise delegates for the party primary provided that he would be handed the party’s Vice Presidential ticket, as Atiku’s running mate.
In a statement through his media aide, Paul Ibe, the former Vice President refuted the allegations, describing them as baseless and political gossip.
But Fayose has threatened to reveal further details of the meeting, including the facilitators and executioners, particularly what he claimed was said about Wike, ostensibly to buttress his assertion that the alleged meeting took place.
Fayose called on Atiku to disown the statement made on his behalf by Mr. Ibe, warning that if the 2023 Presidential candidate of the PDP failed to retract the said statement within 48 hours, he would “spill more beans” about the Mina meeting.
He said, “I saw the response of one Paul Ibe, one of the Media Aides to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, to my release on what transpired at his (Atiku) meeting in Minna, with Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, and I can’t but be amused.
“However, because of my respect for Atiku, I will want to assume that he did not authorise the press statement and I will expect that after seeing it, he will within 48 hours, cause a rebuttal to be issued on it.
“Should Atiku not publicly disown the statement within the next 48 hours, I will have no option but to spill more beans (the facilitators and executioners) of the Minna meeting, particularly what was said about Wike) and by then, I will be doing so without any atom of respect for him.
“Till then, we keep our gunpowder dry.”
