Governor Dapo Abiodun has declared that the second term of his administration would be about good governance and people-oriented projects.
Abiodun made this declaration during a special Jumat Service held at the Central Mosque, Kobiti, Abeokuta, to usher in the inauguration of his second term on May 29.
Earlier, the Governor dissolved the State Executive Council and expressed appreciation to members for working towards the successful implementation of his administration’s “Building our Future Together Agenda”.
Abiodun who announced the dissolution of the cabinet at the valedictory meeting at the Exco Chamber of Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta, declared that members had individually and collectively served the state to the best of their ability.
“You have all worked together to serve the people through the successful implementation of our ‘Building our Future Together’ agenda and as encapsulated in the ISEYA mantra.
“We ran a good race. We made a difference in the lives of our people. You have your bits, and I appreciate you for all your efforts. You have become my immediate family. You must keep in touch because some of you may be called by your people in one capacity or the other.
“All of us started together, we are here together, God has promoted some of us, and we have not lost anybody.
“In line with the provisions, and sadly, I hereby formally dissolve this Executive Council today, May 26, 2023. I thank you for your sacrifices to your people and state, “the governor announced.
On his second term, he thanked the Muslim faithful in the state for their support towards the success of his administration in the first term.
“I want to thank everyone for the success we recorded during the last election.
“I want to thank our Muslim faithful for all your prayers and advice, thank you for the cordial relationship among the Muslim community in the state, the relationship between the Muslim community and other religious bodies in the state. Your religious tolerance is highly commendable.
“Your messages in your various mosques have helped to mould our youths into good men, those messages have also ensured that they did not become a burden on us or disturb the community. Because if they had become a burden on us, we wouldn’t have been able to do all what we have done, thank you for your role.
“All the areas that we are yet to touch, we will touch them, make them better, we will ensure that we give the people good governance and people oriented governance,” he said.
In his sermon, the Mufasiru of Egbaland, Dr. Taofeek Amolegbe, who noted that public office isn’t about how sound a candidate is academically or how rich he is, disclosed that attaining leadership positions is purely an act of God Almighty.
Amolegbe while reminding Governor Abiodun that he should correct the few mistakes made in his first term, urged him to embrace the spirit of the president-elect by calling together those who had wronged him
