The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun has said that there will be no vehicular movement and movement of canoes, ships, and other means of waterways transportation in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa with effect from Friday, November 10.
Egbetokun disclosed that the decision followed measures put in place to ensure free, fair, and credible elections in those three states.
He also gave directive that some state security outfits like Ebubeagu and other quasi Vigilante outfits from carrying out operations during the governorship election in the affected States.
The IGP who made this known at Force Headquarters on Tuesday, October 7 through the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, while briefing newsmen, equally said that marine and gunboats have been deployed in the three States because of their riverine terrain.
According to him, the three states have been fortified with different security equipment, including helicopters to carry out aerial patrol.
