The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its campaign council for the 2027 general elections, signalling the commencement of a coordinated state-wide mobilisation for the party’s presidential, governorship and other electoral contests.
The party, in official lists released on Tuesday by its State Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, named members of various committees saddled with the responsibility of driving its campaign and mobilisation machinery across the 20 local government areas of the state.
The campaign council comprises party leaders, political stakeholders and other key members of the APC, who are expected to coordinate grassroots mobilisation, media and publicity, logistics, contact and mobilisation, youth and women engagement, as well as other critical aspects of the campaign.
Sanusi said the committees were constituted to strengthen the party’s structures and ensure effective coordination of its activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
He charged members of the various committees to work collectively towards securing an overwhelming victory for the APC in the presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections.
A notable feature of the campaign structure is the appointment of Comrade Arabambi Abayomi, a prominent Labour Party chieftain, as Chairman of the Inter-Party Committee.
Arabambi is expected to leverage his extensive experience and political networks across opposition parties to facilitate engagement, dialogue and mobilisation in support of the APC’s candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to the party, the committee’s mandate includes bringing together members and stakeholders from opposition political parties to support the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the emergence of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as Governor of Ogun State, and the election of Prince Dapo Abiodun as Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District.
The committee is also expected to mobilise support for other APC candidates contesting the 2027 elections.
Who Is Arabambi Abayomi?
Comrade Arabambi Abayomi is a veteran politician and Labour Party chieftain with extensive experience in Ogun State and national politics.
He served as Supervisor for Education in Abeokuta North Local Government and later as Special Adviser on Employment Generation in the same local government.
Arabambi also served as Chairman of the Labour Party in Ogun State for eight years before becoming the party’s National Publicity Secretary. He currently serves as National Vice Chairman, South-West, of the Labour Party.
His appointment as Chairman of the APC’s Inter-Party Committee is therefore expected to bring his experience, political contacts and knowledge of opposition-party structures to the APC’s 2027 mobilisation efforts.
The unveiling of the campaign structure marks a significant step in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 elections, coming as the party intensifies its mobilisation and consolidation efforts across Ogun State.
