The Ogun Prosperity Movement is set to stage a major grassroots political mobilisation in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area on Thursday, October 1, 2026, with more than 2,000 party faithful, community leaders and stakeholders expected to converge on Community High School, Iwoye-Ketu, for the Imeko-Afon Mega Rally.
The rally, organised in support of the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is expected to draw participants from all 10 wards of the local government in what organisers describe as a major demonstration of grassroots support and political unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to a statement issued by the Convener of the Ogun Prosperity Movement, Hon. Albert Asipa, the event will provide a platform for party stakeholders and community members to engage with key APC candidates and leaders on the political and developmental agenda for Ogun West and the state at large.
Asipa, a former Chairman of Imeko-Afon Local Government and the current National President of the Association of Ex-Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (ASELGON), said the rally would also feature the formal presentation and addresses by the party’s candidates for the governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly positions representing Ogun West.
The candidates are expected to outline their programmes and vision for inclusive development, grassroots empowerment, economic growth and improved living standards across the senatorial district.
Speaking on the significance of the event, Asipa said the rally would go beyond conventional political mobilisation, describing it as a platform for the people of Imeko-Afon to collectively express their aspirations for purposeful leadership and sustainable development.
“Imeko-Afon Local Government has enormous potential. This Mega Rally is not just a gathering; it is a declaration that the people are ready for purposeful leadership, development and prosperity.
“We are mobilising across all 10 wards to send a clear message that the Ogun Prosperity Movement is committed to delivering real dividends of democracy to every community.”
The Ogun Prosperity Movement is a grassroots political platform focused on promoting good governance, economic development, unity and people-centred policies across Ogun State. The movement is also mobilising support for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI.
Organisers said the October 1 gathering is expected to provide an opportunity for residents, party members and community stakeholders to interact directly with political leaders and candidates while discussing issues affecting the development of Imeko-Afon, Ogun West and the wider state.
Members of the press, APC stakeholders, community leaders and residents of Imeko-Afon are invited to attend the rally.
The organisers added that adequate security and logistical arrangements have been put in place to ensure a peaceful, orderly and successful event.
