The Western Nigeria Union Conference (WNUC) Adventist Men’s Organisation (AMO) has praised the Federal Government, Oyo State Government and security agencies for securing the release of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the development as a significant relief for the affected families and the nation.
The organisation said the safe return of the victims offers renewed hope in the collective fight against insecurity, while urging authorities not to relent in efforts to strengthen security across schools and vulnerable communities.
In a statement jointly signed by the Director of the Adventist Men’s Organisation, Elder Olusola Olayinka, and the organisation’s Public Relations Officer, Elder Omobolaji Akangbe, the group expressed gratitude to God for the successful release of the victims.
According to the statement, the development has brought comfort not only to the families of the rescued pupils and teachers but also to the education community, residents of Oyo State and Nigerians who had followed the incident with concern.
The organisation commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde, security agencies, intelligence operatives, local security networks, community leaders and other stakeholders for what it described as their commitment and coordinated efforts that culminated in the victims’ release.
“We appreciate the courage, sacrifice, vigilance and commitment of our security personnel who continue to stand in defence of lives, property, peace and national stability. Their service remains vital to the protection of citizens and the preservation of public confidence,” the statement said.
While celebrating the successful outcome, WNUC AMO stressed that the incident underscores the need for sustained and proactive security measures to safeguard schools, rural communities, highways, places of worship and other vulnerable locations.
It maintained that the protection of children, teachers and other citizens should remain a top national priority, calling for stronger collaboration among governments, security institutions, community leaders and citizens to address security challenges.
The organisation also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace-building, moral leadership, community vigilance, responsible citizenship and prayer as essential pillars for building a safer and more secure society.
It prayed for the full recovery of the released pupils and teachers, comfort for their families, divine wisdom for the nation’s leaders and continued protection for security personnel.
The statement further expressed hope that Nigeria would continue to witness lasting peace, unity and stability, praying God to heal the nation, preserve its children, strengthen its institutions and deliver the country from every form of evil.
