Global music sensation Shakira is set to make a long-awaited return to one of the world’s most breathtaking concert venues, the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, nearly two decades after her unforgettable debut performance at the historic site.
Born Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoli, the 49 – year old Colombian and Grammy-winning singer will take the stage on November 28 as part of her ongoing Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, marking her first performance at the ancient landmark since her Oral Fixation Tour in 2007. The highly anticipated show is being presented by Venture Lifestyle.
Expressing her excitement ahead of the concert, Shakira said she is looking forward to reconnecting with her Egyptian fans.
“I’m very happy to be performing in Egypt, at the Pyramids of Giza. I love you all,” she said in a statement.
The concert was originally slated for April 7 but had to be postponed due to heightened security concerns triggered by escalating tensions in the Middle East following the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
Over the years, the Great Pyramids of Giza have become one of the world’s most sought-after destinations for spectacular live performances, hosting renowned international stars such as Jennifer Lopez, John Legend, and Katy Perry.
Before heading to Egypt, Shakira is also set to make history on July 19 when she performs at the first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show at MetLife Stadium.
Curated by Chris Martin, the star-studded halftime spectacle will also feature Madonna, Justin Bieber, Burna Boy, and celebrated Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel, further cementing Shakira’s place among the biggest global music stars.
