Popular Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo is dead.
A top Nollywood source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the development on Tuesday.
According to the source, the actor was rushed to the hospital on Monday after his health reportedly deteriorated.
The source disclosed that Ekubo had been battling kidney cancer for some time before his condition worsened.
The University of Calabar – trained lawyer was said to have been placed on life support but passed away on Tuesday afternoon after hours of intensive medical attention.
Rumours about the actor’s health challenges first surfaced in May 2025 following his prolonged absence from social media and public events.
Ekubo’s last post on social media was made on December 30, 2024.
The late actor was widely known for his roles in several Nollywood movies and was regarded as one of the industry’s notable screen personalities.
Before the reports of his death surfaced, Alexx Ekubo was linked to a few recent Nollywood projects, including the 2026 movie Adanne.
He was also known for notable films such as: Weekend Getaway, The Bling, Lagosians, A Sunday Affair, Omo Ghetto, The Saga, Áfàméfùnà, and An Nwa Boi Story
However, reports about his death are still largely based on media and social media claims, with no official confirmation yet from his family or management.
