The widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, Omowunmi Aloba, popularly known as Wunmi, has opened up on the lingering family crisis surrounding the singer’s death, alleging that the ongoing feud with her father-in-law, Mr. Joseph Aloba, is driven by a battle over properties and royalties.
Speaking during a recent interview, Wunmi claimed that her once cordial relationship with Baba Mohbad deteriorated shortly after the singer’s tragic passing. According to her, rather than mourning together as a family, disagreements quickly emerged over the late singer’s assets and financial interests.
The controversy surrounding a DNA test for her son, Liam, also took centre stage during the interview with Wunmi making a startling allegation that Mr. Aloba is allegedly hoping the DNA result comes back negative in order to gain an upper hand in disputes linked to Mohbad’s estate.
“Baba Mohbad wants something I can’t give him. He wants the DNA of my child to be negative,” she alleged.
Reflecting on their past relationship, Wunmi disclosed that she and her father-in-law were once very close and shared a strong bond before tensions escalated following disagreements within the family, including issues surrounding naming ceremonies and Mohbad’s reconciliation with his mother.
Despite the heated public exchanges, Wunmi insisted that she has never rejected calls for a DNA test and remains willing to undergo the process to confirm Liam’s paternity.
Meanwhile, Mr. Joseph Aloba has previously accused Wunmi of being connected to the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death — allegations she has consistently denied.
