Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola has expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and key leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following his emergence as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.
Adeola, who represents Ogun West and chairs the Senate Committee on Appropriations, also thanked Governor Dapo Abiodun, Aremo Segun Osoba and other leaders of the APC in the state for the historic endorsement.
The Aremo of Yewaland was adopted as the consensus party flag – bearer at a strategic APC caucus meeting held in Abeokuta. The decision was announced by Governor Dapo Abiodun and backed by party stakeholders and fellow aspirants.
In a statement released shortly after the announcement, the senator described his emergence as a triumph of unity, equity, and collective resolve within the APC.
He singled out President Tinubu and the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for their continued support and commitment to fairness, noting that the development signals a historic opportunity for Ogun West Senatorial District, which has yet to produce a governor since the state’s creation.
Adeola also commended Governor Abiodun and his wife for their unwavering backing, recalling the governor’s support during his political transition to Ogun West. He paid tribute to elder statesman and former governor Olusegun Osoba for his guidance throughout the process.
The lawmaker further acknowledged the roles played by former governors Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun, describing their contributions as vital to achieving a broad-based consensus within the party.
He praised the Ogun APC leadership, led by Chief Yemisi Sanusi, for ensuring a smooth and inclusive process, while also applauding fellow aspirants, including Gboyega Isiaka and Abiodun Akinlade, for prioritising party unity over personal ambition.
Emphasising the need for cohesion ahead of the 2027 elections, Adeola called on party members and stakeholders across the state to rally behind a shared vision of progress. He urged supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts and work collectively toward electoral success.
Looking ahead, the senator assured that, if elected, his administration would focus on people-centred development, economic expansion, and improved social welfare. He pledged to build on existing achievements while pursuing inclusive growth across all parts of the state.
“In unity lies our strength, and in our shared purpose, we will secure a brighter future for Ogun State,” Adeola said.
