In the spirit of the Ramadan season, Hon. Wale Sowole, a prominent member of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) Support Group, has distributed food items and cash to no fewer than 500 Muslim faithful across several mosques in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The distribution exercise, aimed at providing relief during the fasting period, saw the team visiting major worship centres within Ogun Central Senatorial District.
The outreach commenced at Ita Baki Mosque in Elega, followed by Fadama Central Mosque in Bode Olude, Akorede Central Mosque in Saje, Imale Nfe Alafia Mosque in Oke Saje, and Istijaba Mosque in Fadama.
Speaking during the exercise, the leader of the group, Hon. Sowole Olawale, popularly known as Wale Yayi, said the initiative was dedicated to supporting the people-oriented programmes of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, widely known as Yayi.
Sowole explained that targeting fasting Muslims during Ramadan was a deliberate effort to seek spiritual intercession for Senator Adeola’s governorship aspiration.
“We want you to use this holy month of Ramadan to pray for Senator Yayi’s governorship ambition. If this wish is granted, you will all enjoy the real dividends of democracy,” he said.
Beyond the immediate food and cash support, Wale Yayi disclosed that several empowerment programmes are already in the pipeline to further improve the living conditions of residents of Ogun State.
“Our assurance to the people is that we will do our best to eradicate poverty through empowerment.
“As many have witnessed across the state, Senator Yayi has already done so much and is ready to do even more for the betterment of Ogun State,” he added.
The atmosphere across the mosques visited was filled with appreciation, as beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the gesture.
Many offered prayers for the success of Senator Adeola’s political journey and commended the Wale Yayi group for the timely intervention during the sacred month of Ramadan.
