The African Democratic Congress(ADC) has secured an early win in the Saturday Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory, defeating the All Progressives Congress(APC) at a polling unit in Abuja.
The victory was achieved from Polling Unit 076 at Sani Abacha Estate where the ADC garnered seven votes of the ten ballots cast while the APC polled two votes. One ballot was declared void.
The unit is located in Wuse Zone 4, a central district of the federal capital which was significantly characterized by poor turnout as was also the case across parts Abuja.
At the Abuja Municipal Area Council Chairmanship Candidates of the All Progressives Congress, Christopher Maikalangu and his African Democratic Congress(ADC) counterpart, Paul Moses, have scored an equal number of votes in Supreme Court Staff Quarters polling units located at Karu, Abuja, in the Federal Capital Territory(FCT) election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission Presiding Officer Martins Sani declared the results at Karu, Supreme Court Quarters, polling unit 072, around 3.30pm in the presence of party agents.
He announced that Maikalangu of APC polled 12 votes, while Moses of the ADC also recorded 12 votes.
Also, Sani declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate garnered 4 votes, the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) candidate secured 2 votes, while the Social Democratic Party(SDP) and Action Democratic Party(ADP) candidates polled 1 vote each.
The presiding officer revealed that there were no void votes, noting that only 32 of the 749 registered voters cast their ballots.
Meanwhile, operatives of Nigeria Police Force from Kubusa Division have arrested one person alleged to be agent of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and taken away in the divisional patrol vehicle.
The ADC party agent was said to be in possession of more than 20 voter cards at Polling Unit 001, Kabusa Primary School, FCT, Abuja during the council election.
