The quartet of Ikechukwu Williams, Ebite Egbon, Edwin Usifo and Johnson Okoh representing the indigenous ethnic nationalities in ANIOMA(Delta North) have dragged Senator Ned Nwoko to court over bid to cede the Anioma people of Delta State to the Southeast geopolitical zone of Nigeria through the proposed Anioma State.
Also dragged to court alongside Senator Nwoko are the President of the Senate, Senator God’swill Akpabio, Chairman Senate Committee on State Creation and and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In the lawsuit dated October 24, 2025 and filled before the Federal High Court sitting in Asaba, the Delta State capital, the plaintiffs are praying the court for an order restraining Senator Ned Nwoko and other defendants from taking any step that would delineate Anioma and her people as being part of the Southeast geopolitical zone.
The Plaintiffs which also demanded N50million damages from the defendants, are equally seeking the order of the court directing the INEC to allow them(plaintiffs) recall Senator Ned Nwoko for allegedly abandoning legislative duties and for betraying the people that voted for him.
They also prayed the court to restrain the first defendant( Sen. Ned Nwoko) from engaging in campaign of calumny against the people of Anioma for the purpose of including them in the Southeast geopolitical zone.
The lawsuit was filled by their lawyers – Chief Jackson Onyeaghor, Caleb Mosieri and two others. The matter has not yet been assigned to any particular court.
