Abdulrahman Mohad Ballo, identified as an Islamic clergyman, has been arrested by police operatives from the Kwara State Police Command for the alleged kìlling of Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, a final-year student at the Kwara State College of Education.
The suspect and his lady victim met on Facebook, afterwards he lured her out to a location and allegedly múrdered her for ritual purposes.
The tragic incident occurred on Monday, February 10, 2025.
It was learnt that Hafsoh was a guest at naming ceremony when she received a phone call from a friend, excused herself to answer the call and disappeared.
Worried family members and friends launched a search but were unable to locate her.
The following day, February 11, they reported her disappearance to the Oja Oba Police Station in Ilorin.
It was further gathered that detectives working on the disappearance, traced Hafsoh’s last phone call and a clue from it led them to Ballo, a resident of the Offa Garage area in Ilorin.
Ballo, whose family home is in Isalekoto, initially denied having a hand in Hafsoh’s disappearance.
However, a search of his residence revealed a horrifying scene: Hafsoh’s dismémbered body was found in a bowl, alongside tools suspected to have been used in the gruesome homìcìdal act.
Ballo claimed that Hafsoh had died from an asthma attack after visiting his residence.
The Kwara State Police Command, which confirmed the incident, stated that the suspect had been arrested.
The Kwara State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident, stating: “The Kwara State Police Command is aware of the gruesome killing of one Miss Yetunde H. Lawal. On February 11, 2025, at about 1800 hours, a case of a missing person was reported at C Division Oja-Oba by her father, Mr. Ibrahim A. Lawal.
“Immediately, detectives swung into action, tracked her number, and arrested a suspect…”
