The Nigerian Senate on cleared the immediate past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, for a ministerial office.
Wike, a staunch Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member and the arrowhead of G – 5 Governors that stoutly opposed the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, throughout the 2023 presidential poll electioneering period, reeled out his Curriculum Vitae and achievements to the Senators who listened with keen attention.
The former governor told members of the Red Chamber of the National Assembly that his passion for Nigeria propelled him to accept the ministerial offer from the All Progressives Congress (APC) controlled government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He said, “I accepted the offer to serve as a ministerial nomination because of my passion to serve Nigeria.”
Expectedly, the ministerial nominee received support from the lawmakers representing River State who arrested to his competence.
The Rivers Senators represented by Senator Barinada Mpigi ( PDP, Rivers Southeast) said that Wike remained the best in the state.
