…As Ogun Coalition Of Civil Society Activists Felicitates Abiodun Over His Election Victory

Ogun State Police Command has disclosed that it is not aware of any death threat to the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded March 18 Governorship election in the state, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu.
The Command said Adebutu has not in anyway formally notify her of threat to his life by anybody or group, stressing that as of Wednesday this week, there were still some policemen attached to the former federal lawmaker to ensure his safety.
The defeated PDP’s governorship candidate had while speaking recently at a public event in Abeokuta, the state capital, was reported to have raised the alarm that he had been warn of the risk of being killed by a yet – to – be named person or group.
This prompted the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to counsel him to take things easy and not to kill himself over forlorn governorship ambition.
But speaking to our reporter on the development, the Police Spokesman in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi advised Adebutu to make a formal complaint and forward same to the Command if there was any threat to his life.
Oyeyemi, a Superintendent of Police (SP), however noted that there has so far not been any such complaint or report from Adebutu.
“Hon.Oladipupo Adebutu has not made any official report to us concerning things like any threat to his life. As I speak to you, we still have policemen attached to him.
So, if there is any death threat to his life, he should let us know, he should make an official report and complaint about it. As I’m talking to you now, we have not seen or received any written formal report from him,” Oyeyemi said.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Coalition of Civil Society Activists and Pro Democracy groups in the State (CSOs), has congratulated Governor Dapo Abiodun, over his victory at the just concluded governorship poll in the state.
The organisation with over 72 non-governmental organizations as members and other affiliated associations, in a congratulatory letter signed by Messrs Bankole Solomon and Dolapo Junaid, the Chairman and Secretary of the organisation respectively, described the governor’s victory as a well deserved one.
The CSOs expressed its readiness to pay a congratulatory visit to Governor Abiodun, to collectively celebrate his triumph in the March 18 free and fair election in the state.
According to the statement, the planned visit will further proclaim the governor as a popular leader as well as showcasing him as a great achiever whose developmental agenda had touched lives across the state.
It further acknowledged Abiodun’s determination to deliver dividends of democracy during the COVID-19 pandemic that shut down the whole world and seriously impeded general performance.
The statement noted that nevertheless, the governor performed excellently well and did not allow the pandemic to halt the wheel of good governance in Ogun.
The organisation, however, said the visit to the governor would afford it the avenue to discuss the state affairs in Ogun as well as the state of Civil Society activists in the state.
