Aloy Ejimakor, lead counsel to the convicted leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has called for his relocation to a safer place out of northern Nigeria, saying Sokoto is not safe for him.
Ejimakor in a post on Friday via his X handle stated this became necessary following joint military operation between United States of America and Nigeria targeting terrorists in Sokoto State.
He noted that the strike confirmed that Sokoto is heavily affected by terrorist activities and was never a safe location to keep Kanu.
According to him, the presence of terrorists in the area poses a grave risk to the IPOB leader’s safety..
He urged the authorities to relocate him to a facility outside what he described as the “terrorist belt” in northern Nigeria.
Ejimakor stressed that relocating Kanu has become more urgent in light of the recent security situation in the region.
He said: “The US military strike against terrorists in Sokoto has finally confirmed that Sokoto is riddled with terrorists & thus was never a safe place of custody for MAZI NNAMDI KANU. It’s now more urgent that he be travelled outside the terrorist belt in Northern Nigeria.”
