The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has published the names and photographs of 124 Nigerian nationals placed on its updated deportation register, describing them as part of its “worst of the worst” category of criminal offenders.
The updated list, released on Wednesday through the agency’s official “Worst of the Worst” portal, identifies Nigerian nationals who have been convicted of serious crimes and are facing removal from the United States as part of an intensified immigration enforcement campaign.
According to the DHS, the publication of the names and photographs is intended to showcase ongoing enforcement actions by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) against non-citizens with criminal convictions.
Although the agency made public the identities of the affected individuals, it did not disclose the specific dates for their deportation or provide a detailed breakdown of the offences committed by each person.
The DHS said the exercise forms part of a broader crackdown on criminal immigrants, maintaining that those listed were convicted of serious offences and have been prioritised for removal from the country.
The latest update increases the number of Nigerians publicly identified on the register to 124, reflecting changes to the list over recent months as immigration authorities continue to review cases.
The department has not indicated when the deportations will be carried out, noting that removals are subject to immigration procedures and other legal processes.
