The United States Navy has elevated Nigeria-born Kelechi Ndukwe to the rank of Navy Captain.
Ndukwe from Abia State, is acclaimed to be the first Nigerian-American to command a U.S. naval warship.
Reacting, House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu described him as “my dear constituent and brother “in a congratulatory message to him yesterday.
Kalu said Ndukwe merited his position by determination, resilience, and consistency.
He said: “Kelechi has continued to make his hometown of Item in Bende Federal Constituency, and our entire nation of Nigeria, proud.
“May you keep soaring to greater heights as you continue on this journey. We are cheering you on every step of the way.”
