President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja today for Europe to begin a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave, the State House has announced.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, August 30, 2026, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the President’s first stop will be *London, United Kingdom.
The presidency described the trip as a working vacation.
“President Tinubu will depart Abuja today for Europe to begin a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave. His first stop will be London, United Kingdom,” the statement read.
The President is expected back in Nigeria after the leave to resume preparations for the 2027 general elections.
“President Tinubu is expected to return home after the working vacation to join the hectic campaign for the January 2027 election,” Onanuga stated.
The announcement comes as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the presidential election scheduled for January 2027.
President Tinubu, who assumed office in May 2023, is constitutionally eligible to seek a second term.
Details of the President’s engagements in London were not disclosed in the statement.
