President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his planned visit to Iperu, Ogun State, opting instead to begin a four-state tour with a condolence trip to Jos following recent deadly attacks in the area.
The President was initially scheduled to visit Ogun on Thursday to flag off operations at the Gateway International Cargo Airport. However, the change in itinerary will see him travel first to Plateau State to commiserate with the government and residents over the killings of innocent citizens by gunmen.
After his visit to Plateau, Tinubu will proceed to Lagos, where he will observe the Good Friday.
According to the revised schedule, the President will return to Ogun State on Saturday, April 4, to commission the cargo airport and inaugurate two commercial aircraft intended to enhance import and export activities and stimulate economic growth in the state.
During the Ogun visit, Tinubu is also expected to inaugurate a new facility for the Federal Operations Unit of the Nigerian Customs Service, alongside operational vehicles to strengthen its activities.
He will subsequently return to Lagos to continue the Easter celebrations, during which he is billed to commission several key infrastructure projects executed by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The projects include the Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographic Information System building, a multi-agency complex named after the President, and a new school complex.
Before concluding the multi-state tour, Tinubu will travel to Bayelsa State on April 10 to inaugurate projects completed by Governor Duoye Diri.
The itinerary adjustment was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
