Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has advised Nigerians to patronise products and services of indigenous entrepreneurs to help grow the nation’s economy, end importation, create more employment opportunities and put food on the tables of many families.
Obasanjo noted that local entrepreneurs should be encouraged and supported to thrive in Nigeria as they are lifelines to the young ones, stressing that through their entrepreneurial engagements, they serve humanity, Nigeria and God.
The elder statesman gave the advice in his brief key note address on the topic: ‘SME’s Key Role in Manufacturing & Import Substitution’ during the unveiling of luxe regal brand of royal chairs, the products of Olatunde Prestige Ltd in Abeokuta, the state capital on Thursday.
The ex – President who was represented by his wife, Chief (Mrs) Bola Obasanjo, commended the firm for its innovation that led to the provision of 1000 direct jobs to young Nigerians since 2015 when it began operations.
The firm’s CEO, Babatunde Ebidero said it is easier to make more money as an importer than being a manufacturer but revealed that he abandoned importation and took up manufacturing to help grow the economy, GDP and lift many out of poverty through jobs creation.
