Seven persons, largely worshippers going for Revival ahead of New Year, were burnt beyond recognition when a Mazda bus conveying them went up in flame.
The lone accident which occurred few metres away Odogbolu junction along Sagamu – Benin express way, also left seven other worshippers with varying degrees of burn.

was heading to the direction of Ijebu Ode, Ogun State when it suddenly exploded into bursts of flames from the engine side, setting off chaos in the bus as the agonizing passengers laboured to escape.
The Spokesman of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the accident said there were occupants in the bus when the incident happened.
Akinbiyi said further that seven (7) females had burns while seven other females were burnt beyond recognition.
“According to witnesses’ account, the lone fatal crash was coming from Kosofe area of Lagos inbound Epe, for a church revival in the new year, when it’s engine suddenly caught fire due to engine overflow (overfloat)..
“The number of passengers in the commercial bus was 15, out of which 7 females were burnt to death, while the remaining 7 were seriously burnt and taken to Ijebu-Ode General Hospital for treatment. However, the driver of the bus escaped.
“The Mazda bus had been taken to Odogbolu Motor Traffic Division of the Nigeria Police,” Akinbiyi said.
He commiserated with the families of the deceased, wished the injured speedy recovery and urged motorists to maintain their vehicles regularly as well as carry out daily routine check on the vehicle before setting out on a journey.
