Women in Politics, Ogun State chapter, in their hundreds celebrated the All Progressives Congress(APC) leader, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, describing him as a role model and politician who provided an exemplary leadership.
The women from the 20 local governments of Ogun State who converged in Osoba’s residence within the Government Reservation Area(GRA), prayed for the ex – governor’s long life, good health, peace and wisdom to keep serving the state, Nigeria and humanity with leadership experience as an elder statesman.
The group leader, Chief (Mrs) Abosede Akande, hailed Osoba at 84, saying he remains one politician and leader who always encourage women to actively participate in politics by seeking elective office instead of playing the role of onlookers waiting for appointments.
Mrs Akande urged Ogun women to use the occasion of the octogenarian’s 84th birthday to heed to his repeated calls on them to get involved in active politicking.
The Women in Politics which celebrated ex – governor Osoba in absentia were received in Osoba’s house by a former federal lawmaker, Hon. Adekunle Adeyemi, who commended them for honouring and celebrating Baba Osoba.
Similarly, Senator Olamilekan Adeola felicitated Osoba, describing him as a role model in progressive politics.
Adeola, an APC Senator who represents Ogun West Senatorial District, noted that
Akinrogun’s recent role in Yoruba Unity and National politics was contributory to the emergence and election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the 16th president of Nigeria.
The Chairman of Senate Committee on Appropriation said he is proud of the great contributions of Chief Osoba to the socio-political and economic development of Nigeria in the area of journalism, the struggle for enthronement of democracy and good governance.
“For all of us that remained steadfast in the progressive fold of Nigeria politics, you are a role model to follow in your brand and style of politics and leadership acumen.
“As you celebrate the age of 84 years on earth, our prayers is for you to have many more years in good health and more wisdom that comes with age to continue to impact on the society as you recently demonstrated in the affairs of the Nation” Senator Adeola stated in a release by Chief Kayode Odunaro, his media aide.
Also, Ogun State Chapter of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) congratulated the veteran journalist and former governor of Ogun State, on his 84th birthday.
In a statement signed by Oluwaseun Boye and Kunle Olayeni, Chairman and Secretary respectively, the Ogun NIPR extolled the virtues of Chief Osoba, describing him as a distinguished statesman and an epitome of selfless leadership.
“As a journalist par excellence and astute media manager, he has been a mentor, leader and father-figure to many of us in Public Relations practice. Through his elevated positions, he has exerted positive influence on the nation’s socio-political landscape.
“Chief Osoba remains an embodiment of candour and impeccable character, in and out of office. We salute his phenomenal leadership and great sacrifices in the service of the people. We are so proud that our dear State is blessed to have him among eminent personalities still inspiring successor generations.
“As our Baba gracefully add another year today, our prayer is that the good Lord shall bless and grant him more years in good health so that we can continue to benefit from his extensive wealth of experience,” the statement read.
