Terrorists who abducted the principal, teachers and pupils from schools in Ahoro-Esinele, Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State, have released a disturbing video showing the kidnapped principal pleading for help.
In the video obtained by Vital News on Sunday, Mrs. Alamu Folawe, Principal of Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, appealed emotionally to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to negotiate peacefully with the abductors for their release.
The footage is believed to have been released by the kidnappers as part of efforts to pressure authorities into negotiations.
Earlier reports revealed that the attackers also seized four motorcycles from villagers during the operation — three from Yawota community and one from the Community High School. A teacher and a commercial motorcyclist were reportedly killed as the terrorists fled the area.
The Oyo State Government said on Saturday that security operatives had trapped the kidnappers within the national park corridor linking Oyo North and southern Kwara State.
Meanwhile, families and residents of the affected communities confirmed that a total of 46 people — including seven teachers and 39 pupils — were abducted during coordinated attacks on schools and nearby communities in Orire Local Government Area.
The affected schools include Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School. The attackers also invaded Alausa and Oniya communities.
Among the abducted teachers are Mrs. Alamu Folawe, the school principal; Vice Principal Mr. Ojo Jonathan; and teachers Mr. Olatunde Zacchaeus, Mr. John Olaleye, Mr. Michael Oyedokun, Mrs. Oladeji, and Mary Akanbi.
Dozens of children between the ages of two and 16 were also kidnapped across Ahoro-Esinele, Yawota, Oniya and Alawusa communities, deepening fears among residents over worsening insecurity in the area.
