A ministerial – designate, Dr Iziaq kunle Salako, has commiserated with Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola over the gruesome murder of one of his Aides, Niyi Sanni.
Mr. Sanni was killed by yet to be known assailants in the early hours of Saturday.
According Chief Kayode Odunaro, Senator Adeola’s media aide, “Information available to the bereaved senator in Abuja indicates that Mr Sanni was stopped at a checkpoint around Berger area of Lagos on his way to his home at Isheri by security agents.
“He was asked to provide the documents of the car he was driving, which he did through his wife who sent all the documents to his phone via WhatsApp
“It was gathered that the wife called a while later and the late Mr. Sanni told him they are still checking the vehicle’s papers. His apprehensive wife later called on Mr Sanni’s associates to say she could no longer reach her husband on the phone necessitating the mobilisation of a search party.”
Odunaro explained in the statement that Sanni’s wife was later called by passersby through the “next of kin” phone number available on her husband’s driver’s license and was informed that Sanni’s body had been found with a gunshot wound around the Toyota bus stop in Oshodi, Lagos.
However, reacting to the unfortunate incident in a release, Dr Salako who served as Senator YAYI’s Director of Campaign Organisation during this year’s election, described late Niyi Sanni as a dutiful, clear-headed and highly trusted aide of Senator Adeola and described him as calm and cool – headed young man.
“…It beats my imagination on how a harmless and generally acknowledged calm, cool-headed Niyi that cant hurt a fly could be gruesomely murdered in his prime,” he stated.
Dr Salako who received the shocking news shortly after the conclusion of his ministerial nomination screening at the National Assembly, wondered why the assailants still took his life after they had even taken the young man’s vehicle and other items on him.
He sympathized with Senator YAYI because he, alongside Niyi and other aides worked at a very close level with the Ogun West Senator, noting that the young man was valuable to their principal and to lose such a diligent and highly trusted aide as Niyi is a heavy loss.
He concluded with prayer for the Senator, the wife and family of the deceased and others that almighty Allah would grant them the fortitude to bear the heavy loss.
