The body of the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has been airlifted from the Nigerian Airforce (NAF) Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos for onward journey to Abuja.
At 9:00am on Thursday, soldiers of the Guards Brigade solemnly received his remains, preparatory to paying their last respect to the fallen military leader.
The Daily Crucible reports that the COAS passed away last week Tuesday at the age of 56, after an undisclosed ailment.
Lagbaja was appointed as Chief of Army Staff by President Bola Tinubu on June 19, 2023.
His body is being expected in Abuja this Thursday ahead of tomorrow’s military burial rites and final internment at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) November 15, 2024.
