A man identified as Haruna Mohammed and believed to be an Inspector of Police has been found dead inside Super G Royal Hotel, located at 11 Anthony Uzum Estate, Oyeyemi Akute area of Ogun State.
It was learnt that the man arrived at the hotel at around 1:00 am on Saturday in a company of a lady whose identity has not yet been established
Haruns’s lifeless body was discovered in the hotel room on Sunday by a female worker identified as Deborah Ogunjobi but the man’s companion is currently missing or probably on the run.
A police camouflage uniform with Inspector rank and name tag that reads: Haruna Mohammed, was found in his bag.
It was learnt that the female hotel worker believed to be the manager and who discovered the tragic incident had been taken to the Ajunwon Police Division by detectives for interrogation while the remains of the said Haruna Mohammed have been evacuated and deposited at Life Channel Mortuary Olambe, an Ogun border community with Lagos State.
The spokesperson of the Ogun Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident on Sunday, saying the man’s companion had not been found.
CSP Odutola said there was no trace of violence on the man’s body, adding that though a police camouflage found in his bag had a tag that reads Haruna Mohammed while the rank tag bore Inspector.
According to the police spokesperson, it would be improper to conclude with certainty that the deceased was a serving police officer.
