Nigeria Police Force says Bristol Isaac Tamunobiefiri, also known as PIDOM is in its custody following his arrest.
PIDOM, an anonymous whistleblower and investigative journalist was deemed missing for over two weeks by his friends and followers on social media but it has now been established that he was arrested August 5 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State and subsequently transferred to the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja, where he remains under the control of the National Cybercrime Centre.
Force spokesman, ACP ‘Muyiwa Adejobi, disclosed on Saturday morning in a short statement confirmed that Bristol Isaac Tamunobiefiri had been arrested ahead of investigation into several allegations bordering on unlawful possession, leakages of classified documents and cyber related offences levelled against him.
Adejobi stated, “In a well-coordinated effort, officials from the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) apprehended Bristol Isaac Tamunobiefiri, also known as PIDOM, on allegations of committing serious offenses that undermine the integrity of government operations. The arrest took place on August 5, 2024, in his hotel room Rivers State.
“There are several allegations levelled against the suspect, including unlawful possession, leakages of classified documents, cyber related offences, and others. We will do due diligence in carrying out thorough investigation into the cases.
“The force will leave no stone unturned to continually enforce the law and bequeath to Nigerians a more secure nation.”
