It was a pitiable outing for the Ogun State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) on Tuesday at the ongoing Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta, the state capital as its witness did not know the Petitioner (Ladi Adebutu) in the matter he appeared as a witness or the date of the last governorship election.
The PDP witness, Olusanya Olatunji, who seemed palpably ignorant of the content or import of the witness statement he had deposed to, also said that he did know the process by which he became the party agent for the said election, stressing that he did not also know who were the respondents in the matter.
Olatunji betrayed his ignorance and disconnect from the issues during
separate cross – examinations by Counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Remi Olatubora, and that of the All Progressives Congress(APC).
Witness Olatunji, a PDP member, from Idowa in Odogbolu Local Government Area, also said he could not substantiate the figures he supplied in his witness statement regarding registered voters and PVCs collected in his area.
The questions and responses of the Witness during cross – examination read, “Q: Who is the Petitioner in this case?
Witness: I don’t know
Q: When was the election?
Witness: 13th March 2023
Q: Who told you the figures of PVCs collected as stated in your witness statement
Witness: I don’t know
Q: Do you know Form EC8A?
Witness: I don’t know
Q: Do you know what Form EC8B is used for?
Witness: I don’t know
Q: Do you know the process by which you became a party agent?
Witness: I don’t know
Q: Who are the Respondents in this case?
A: I don’t know.”
Also, another witness called by the PDP, Abidemi Adenuga, while being crossed examined said the governorship election in the State was held on March 13th instead of 18th.
Also, the witness didn’t know what Petitioner, form EC8A and form EC8B mean, as well as how he came about the figures of PVCs collected as purportedly stated in his witness report.
