A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Chief Toyin Amuzu, has assured Nigerians that the party will not only overcome its current challenges but will also rise stronger, more united and fully prepared to liberate the nation from the unprecedented hardship foisted on it by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Amuzu who was speaking in Abeokuta on the state of the Nation and the Party’s forthcoming Convention, likened the PDP to an open market, a noble and enduring institution where people may come and go, but one which always remains open to serve the collective good of the people.
He emphasised that those who genuinely align with the PDP’s people-first ideology will remain steadfast in the party, because it is a platform built on service, justice and the welfare of the masses.
“The PDP is not just a political party, it is a movement of people who believe in a better Nigeria,” Amuzu declared.
“Yes, some may join politics for selfish ambition, but the PDP’s true essence has always been about building communities, uplifting citizens out of poverty and restoring dignity to our people. That is why this market will never close.”
He condemned the APC-led government for plunging Nigerians into deeper misery, saying it has become clear that the ruling party has nothing left to offer but hunger, insecurity and hopelessness despite their concocted lies and propaganda to usurp the PDP.
“So far, Nigerians have seen all that APC can do and it is nothing but failure,” Amuzu stated.
“We cannot continue down this path. If we do, the suffering of our people will only get worse.”
According to him, the PDP remains the only credible alternative with a clear ideology, people-oriented policies and a proven track record of governance.
“The PDP is the light in this darkness. It is the hope in this despair. It is the only platform that can reposition our country and restore the confidence of Nigerians in leadership,” he said.
Noting that the ruling party is desperately trying to weaken the opposition, Amuzu urged PDP members and Nigerians not to lose faith. Instead, he called for renewed unity, resilience and faith in God to withstand the times.
“What exactly is APC doing that is so attractive? What has APC offered Nigerians apart from pain and poverty?” Amuzu asked pointedly.
According to the Egba traditional Chief “those with good intentions for this country cannot, in good conscience, be part of a party that thrives on failure.”
He charged Nigerians to rise above fear and indifference, insisting that this is a decisive moment in the country’s history.
“This is not the time to waver,” he declared.
“We must stand for our country, for our states, and for our local governments. We must choose light over darkness, hope over despair and unity over division. The PDP must remain resilient, reorganise and continue to provide Nigerians with the platform they can rely on to reclaim their future.”
Amuzu also reminded Nigerians that God remains the ultimate planner whose will cannot be questioned.
“What God will do, He will tell no one,” he said.
“We may think we have seen it all, but God has His plans. He is the final decider and His will shall prevail in the affairs of this nation. That is why we must put Him first in all that we do.”
The Asiwaju Leragun Egba stressed that the survival of democracy and the liberation of Nigerians depend on the PDP standing strong and united. “We cannot allow a one party system and betray the people. We must be steadfast. We must be bold. We must fight for our nation and hold our destinies in our hands. Together, we will rebuild Nigeria and together, we will win,” he concluded.
