A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday issued an order barring a renowned Political Economist, Professor Pat Utomi, and his associates from proceeding with their plan to establish a shadow government/cabinet in the country.
Justice James Kolawole Omotosho gave the order in a judgment on a suit filed against Utomi by the Department of State Services (DSS).
The court held that the concept of shadow government/cabinet is unconstitutional and an alien to the presidential system of government being practiced in the country.
The judge also held that Utomi and his associates cannot use the freedom of association or right to criticise the government as a shield to engage in unlawful activities.
He commended the plaintiff(DSS) for filing the suit and held among others, that it was within the purview of the secret police to take steps to prevent acts capable of plunging the nation into internal security challenges.
