The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, has confirmed the arrest of eleven additional suspects over alleged sexual assault incidents at Oramudu Quarters in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area.
The latest arrests followed the deployment of a special tactical team to the troubled community after reports emerged that women and girls were attacked during a local festival on Thursday.
The development brings the total number of suspects in custody to fifteen, as authorities intensify efforts to track down others involved.
Condemning the incidents, the Police Commissioner assured residents that the Command is fully committed to ensuring justice is served.
He stressed that all perpetrators would be identified, apprehended, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Adesola further disclosed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough and comprehensive probe.
He also called on victims and eyewitnesses to come forward with credible information that could aid ongoing investigations.
“The Delta State Police Command remains fully committed to bringing all perpetrators to justice. We urge victims and witnesses to come forward with any information that can assist our investigation,” he said.
