Former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, has called on members of the Ataba family to continue to live in love and unity, describing both virtues as the foundation of a strong and progressive family.
Chief Osoba made the call during the dedication of the newly reconstructed Ataba family house in Ago Oba, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
According to him, the Ataba family can only continue to grow and prosper in an atmosphere of peace, harmony and mutual understanding.
He urged family members to sustain the cordial relationship and affection among themselves in the overall interest of the family.
Akinrogun Osoba explained that the old family house was largely demolished during the administration of former Governor Ibikunle Amosun to pave the way for development. He said he had since resolved to build a befitting modern structure for the Ataba family.
Chief Osoba, who was visibly excited during the ceremony, expressed happiness that the Ataba family legacy had been preserved in a modern form rather than erased from the historic family compounds in Ago Oba, Abeokuta and Ogun State at large.
Earlier, the head of the family, Chief Gbolahan Shokunbi, expressed joy that the long-held dream of a new family house had finally become a reality. He thanked Chief Osoba for making the project possible.
In his goodwill message, a member of the family and former Managing Director of WAPCO/Lafarge Plc, Chief Ranti Shokunbi, commended Osoba for always keeping the Ataba family close to his heart, describing him as the pillar holding the family together.
Delivering his sermon, the Vicar in charge of St. Michael Anglican Church, Ago Oba Archdeaconry, Venerable Dr Olayeni, urged members of the family to remain steadfast in their faith in God, whom he described as the giver and provider of all things.
Venerable Olayeni also charged family members to remain focused, dedicated and closer to God at all times.
Members of the Ataba family from different walks of life attended the event. Among them were Chief Olusegun Osoba, former Governor of Ogun State; Chief Ranti Shokunbi, former Managing Director of WAPCO/Lafarge Plc; Dr Solomon Shokunbi, Director of Hospital Services, Ogun State Ministry of Health; and Comrade Wole Shokunbi, former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council.
Other dignitaries present included the former Primate of the Anglican Church of Nigeria, Primate Jasper Akinola; the Olu of Owode, Oba Kolawole Sowemimo; and the Olu of Oba, Oba Ganiyu Adegun of Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
