The Ogun State Police Command has foiled a suspected cult initiation in Owode-Yewa, arresting three students aged 12, 18 and 18 and recovering weapons allegedly linked to the planned activity. The suspects were arrested following intelligence received on October 22, 2026, about a planned cult-related activity tagged “Kito Day,” reportedly involving students from different secondary schools in the area. According to the Ogun State Police Command, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Owode-Yewa swiftly deployed a team of detectives, in collaboration with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, to the scene after receiving the information. The operation resulted in the arrest of the three suspects and the recovery of one English axe, two knives, one short cutlass, a rubber toy gun and a school bag. The police said the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Friday, October 23, for further investigation and possible prosecution. The command has yet to disclose the identities of the suspects or provide further details about the circumstances surrounding the planned initiation.
