ABEOKUTA: In a scathing critique of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Toyin Amuzu, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has described yesterday’s local government election in Ogun State as a “complete charade” and an “arbitrary use of power.”
This was coming on the heels of reports of violence, intimidation, and manipulation during the local government election.
Hon. Amuzu, who was the House of Representatives candidate of the PDP in the 2023 elections urged Nigerians to reject the APC’s recklessness and dictatorial tendencies in the 2027 elections, as it is quite clear that the APC can never win any free and fair election in the Country.
According to Amuzu, APC’s actions during yesterday’s election were a clear indication of their disregard for democratic principles and the well-being of the Nigerian people.
“It is quite disheartening that despite APC’s usual massive rigging and manipulations, they still went ahead to cause violence and chaos terrorising innocent citizens and the opposition.”
Chief Amuzu emphasized that the PDP, with its experience and people-oriented policies, is better equipped to serve the interests of Nigerians, as different from the hardship and anti-people policies of the ruling party.”
He said, the PDP had earlier raised concerns about the APC’s use of military personnel to disrupt the electoral process, an act which saw the minority leader of the house of Assembly taken away in a Gestapo manner.
Yesterday’s realities, according to Amuzu, have further exposed that the APC is quite unpopular among the people.
“Despite their attempts to manipulate the process, the APC still lost woefully, indicating that the people have rejected them, thus the reason to resort to violence and intimidation.
As the 2027 elections would be approaching, Amuzu has urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and reject the APC’s attempts to perpetuate their recklessness.
He emphasized that the PDP is committed to providing a better alternative, with policies and programs that prioritize the needs of the people, saying it is quite clear that the APC can not win any election in a free and fair contest.
With this message, Amuzu joins a growing chorus of voices calling for change in Nigeria’s political landscape.
