Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 Ogun State election, on Sunday inaugurated a multi-million naira campaign headquarters in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Speaking at the inauguration, which was attended by his running mate, Alhaja Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun; APC leaders; top government officials; traditional rulers; and members of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Adeola said the facility, located in the Ibara area of Abeokuta, would serve as the coordinating centre for his campaign activities ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
He disclosed that construction of the campaign headquarters began two years ago, long before he was certain of securing the APC governorship ticket.
According to him, the project was driven by faith and his conviction that he would eventually emerge as the party’s candidate. He noted that the building was completed a few months before he was unanimously adopted as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate.
Adeola added that he had resolved to put the building to another use if his governorship ambition failed, expressing gratitude to God for making his aspiration a reality.
He also thanked Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun for believing in his capacity to succeed him and deliver effective governance to the people of the state.
“I am happy today that we are commissioning this beautiful edifice as my campaign headquarters. It started two years ago when the coast was not clear at all. I was not sure that I would get the ticket of my party, but I tied its construction to faith.
“After the completion of the building, I was still an aspirant, but my faith in God was unshaken. I even thought that if my governorship aspiration did not come through, I would put the building to another use. But as God would have it, I became the first APC governorship candidate to emerge in Nigeria. I emerged as the party’s consensus candidate in April, ahead of the APC primaries in May. For this, I am grateful to God,” he said.
Adeola also thanked party leaders and members for their confidence in him, promising to lead an administration anchored on fairness, equity, and justice.
He described the campaign headquarters as a collective asset for APC members committed to ensuring the party’s victory in the 2027 election.
Earlier, the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, who represented Governor Dapo Abiodun, commended Adeola for constructing what he described as an unprecedented campaign headquarters in Ogun State.
Talabi said the facility would serve as a benchmark for future political campaigns across the country, expressing confidence that Adeola would build on the achievements of the current administration.
He added that he had no doubt Adeola would run an inclusive government and further advance Ogun State’s socio-economic development.
The inauguration drew a large gathering of political leaders, government officials, traditional rulers, and other dignitaries, including Ogun APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi; Chief Mrs Temitope Adeola, wife of Senator Adeola; former Deputy Governors Senator Gbenga Kaka, Alhaja Salmot Badru, and Prince Segun Adesegun; the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Aremu Gbadebo; the Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle; the Olubara of Ibara, Oba Jacob Omolade; Archbishop Michael Fape; the Bishop of Remo Diocese; Sheikh Sugar; Senators Lekan Mustapha, Iyabo Anisulowo, and Akin Odunsi, as well as several serving and former federal and state government officials.
