Speaker Oludaisi Elemide – led Ogun State House of Assembly has direct the State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Ade Akinsanya, the Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya and the Special Adviser to the Governor on the State Public Works Agency to appear before the House over the deplorable Uren bridge in Odogbolu in Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state.

The summons followed a bold and proactive move to safeguard lives and improve critical infrastructure by the Assembly Minority Leader, Hon. Lukman Adeleye, who spearheaded legislative action following the recent fatal accident on the Uren Bridge in Odogbolu Local Government Area of the State.
The Daily Crucible reports that the OGHA Minority Leader who represents Odogbolu State Constituency, had recently called the attention of the government, including the local government to the state of the Uren bridge after extending his heartfelt condolences to families of those who lost their lives to a tragic accident on the bridge.
The accident, which involved a truck crashing into the bridge, resulted in multiple fatalities and left the entire community still reeling in grief.
Adeleye described the incident as a painful reminder of the urgent need to address the state of critical infrastructure in the area..
He called on the Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Dr. Tunde Diya, to urgently prioritize the reconstruction of the bridge.
And in further demonstration of his further commitment to safety of lives, Hon Adeleye while rising under personal explanation at plenary yesterday, brought the tragic incident to the attention of the House, describing the Uren Bridge as dangerously narrow, structurally weak and long overdue for reconstruction.
He emphasised that the bridge, which links Odogbolu to Ikenne Local Government Area, had become a death trap for commuters and urgent intervention was required to prevent further loss of lives.
His passionate plea prompted the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, to direct the State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, the Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Ola Oresanya and the Special Adviser to the Governor on the State Public Works Agency to appear before the House on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
The interface is expected to address not only the immediate need for reconstruction of the Uren Bridge but also broader concerns about road infrastructure across the State.
The Speaker, while commiserating with the families of the victims, reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to the safety of Ogun residents.
He acknowledged the State Government’s ongoing efforts on massive infrastructural projects but noted that the inherited backlog of road deficits remains a challenge.
Hon. Adeleye further urged the government to extend the current Ikenne–Mayflower road construction to include the Uren Bridge, emphasising its strategic importance as a key route for residents and businesses in the axis.
The Minority Leader reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring that the voices of the people of Odogbolu are heard and their needs prioritised.
He assured his constituents that he would continue to work tirelessly with relevant authorities to achieve safer and more functional infrastructure in the area.
This latest intervention underscores the importance of responsive representation and sets the stage for greater accountability in governance.
