Obaship Institution: Our Rallying Point Is Slipping Away

I am not sure we know what the Obaship  Institution is and why it is being viciously attacked. It is our rallying point. The reason we have become so rudderless these days is because we have lost our rallying points

By Adedamola Adetayo

The first time it nearly happened was in Egba land. Oba Lipede, Aláké Egba land joined his ancestors and his wife was reported to have hidden his corpse, claiming that her husband had become Born-Again Christian. I think it was later taken from her when some forces and elders intervened in Egba land.

Some Yoruba people said ” Omode lo n’se”

Then it finally happened in Ogbomoso, the body of Oba Ajagungbade III was displayed in the full view of the public.

Some Yoruba people said ” Soun was just a glorified Baale”.

Next it was in Ibadan. Twice it happened in quick succession. The body of Olubadan Lekan Balogun was being carried around and about the city like a trophy and the body of the Olubadan before him was dropped on the ground in full view like some idoho sack of beans.

Some Yoruba people said that ” it’s Ibadan, we shouldn’t reckon with that”.

Then it was going to happen in Oyo. I saw Aláàfin Adeyemi III’s corpse being dragged like some Government Palliatives. It was the timely intervention of the courageous Sango Cult that stopped the process otherwise those people called Àáfàs would have buried Aláàfin Adeyemi III with the crucial staff on his head. The implications would have been disastrous.

Yoruba people started to scratch their beards.

90-year Oba Olubara of Ibara Abeokuta was talking to the Press. He said so many things which included the condescending question ” What is ÌSÈSE?”

Then he deposited curses in advance on anybody or Cult groups that would dare touch his corpse when he died.

He said nobody should touch his corpse. Perhaps he needs that body in the sky heavens that he was promised by 419 Pastors.

I heard it with my own ears.

He is still there.

Today, in full view of the public, the BODY of Ogbagba II was carried about like some bail of Ibo okrika clothes.

Such sacrilege in broad daylight!!!

Ogbagba himself wanted it that way as though he owned the Obaship having brought it with him in his mother’s womb.

I heard him in a video where he said ” Osugbos were merre palace messengers who are now going beyond their powers”

Olódùmarè!!!

Now, Governor Abiodun was escorted by Governor Sanwoolu, former VP Osinbajo , Senator Gbenga Daniel, former Governor Osoba and Elders of Ijebu and Yoruba land to SET A PRECEDENT, the type which the families of Oba Lafa II, Olubara Ibara and other Obas in Ogun State will very certainly.demand and must get in the coming future.

For goodness sake are these people thinking at all????

What do they think the OBASHIP is ?????

Why are we like this?

Are they saying that our ancestors and forefathers were stupid or is there any available evidence to suggest we are wiser than their generations?

In OYO, an Aláàfin DIED in battle. He sacrificed HIS LIFE.

He laid down his life for Oyo and Yoruba land.

In ILÉ-IFÉ, Moremi, a woman, practically made herself a sacrifice. She could have DIED in that adventure to Ugbo land.

She did it for Yoruba land.

Many AARE ONAKAKANFO have laid down their LIVES in defence of Yoruba land. It is said that they don’t return home from lost battles.

There was the Legend of ABOBAKU. They willingly, voluntarily and joyfully SUBMITTED THEIR LIVES to be buried along with OBAS, not because the dead body of the Obas needed their death for anything in the afterlife but they did it to MYSTIFY THE OBASHIP INSTITUTION to make it an even stronger rallying point and force of reckoning for the people.

In many lands like BINI, women have been known to WILLINGLY lay down their LIVES TO BE BURIED ALIVE for the peace of their land, even young virgin ladies in the peak of youth.

It was a sacrifice they gave willingly.

In modern times, Soldiers go to wars all across the country and beyond laying down their lives for us to enjoy peace.

Even in the Arab lands that we are senselessly copying their anachronistic religion, men and women tie BOMBS AROUND THEIR BODIES in suicide missions for the sake of their Islam religion which is more or less Culture for them and also for their countries and whatever madness Ideologies they conjure.

BUT IN YORUBA LAND, AN OBA AWUJALE WAS NOT WILLING TO SACRIFICE JUST HIS DEAD BODY TO FORTIFY THE THRONE HE HAD ENJOYED THE PRIVILEGES AND HONOURS FOR 65 YEARS!!!!!

Our OBAS are so vanity-possessed they are crying over their BODIES. Would such men ever lay down their lives if the defence of their home land asked for it?

No, these ones would rather sell all of us into slavery.

It was a simple matter of CUSTOM,. immutable instructions which our ancestors have been doing and which made the Obaship thick.

In that Ijebu land, a whole Orimolusi died in Air crash. If he had followed the ways of his ancestors, stayed faithful to the Òrìsàs it would never have happened. Infact if he had stayed faithful to IFÁ he surely wouldn’t have stepped out of his palace for that ill-fated trip.

Imagine an Oba dying in a motor accident and his blood spilling on the road.

Imagine an OBA being shot at and he died, his blood spilling on the road.

Imagine Obasanjo having the courage to do Edide-Ejoko drill for Obas.

Imagine an Oba not calling a subject, a native of his kingdom and he snubbed him.

I am unable to imagine what many of these Obas do behind close doors. They are quite capable of trading us away like toys.

I am not sure we know what the OBASHIP INSTITUTION is and why it is being viciously attacked.

It is our RALLYING POINT.

The reason we have become so rudderless these days is because we have lost our RALLYING POINTS.

Adeboye is not our rallying point. When trouble starts he will enter his jet and go to America from where he will be praying for Sunday Igboho and Gani Adams. Many of the Pentecostal Christians whose minds he has abused will join the IBO ZIONISTS to attack us and they themselves will be slaughtered afterwards.

The Àáfàs and their Wahhabism are not our rallying point. When trouble starts they will be taking instructions from Ilorin and Sokoto and our foolish Muslims will mostly join them to attack Yoruba land thinking it is about Islam until they themselves are all slaughtered like the Hausa people.

OBASHIP INSTITUTION, NOT NECESSARILY THE OBAS, is the only true rallying point for the Yoruba people because it holds all the things which truly bind us and are capable of saving us in times of danger.

It is our IDENTITY.

That INSTITUTION is worth the sacrifices of human lives to protect.

I will gladly give my life to fortify that INSTITUTION.

Of what use is the dead body of an Oba that he can’t leave it to fortify the throne and institution of Obaship?

Even a more mortal and atheist like Dr. Tai Solarin was good enough to have left instructions for his body to be used for whatever the living found it useful for!!!!

I am so pained and disappointed with what I saw in Ijebu-Ode.
