A 45-year-old Nigerian man has been sentenced to two years in prison in the United Kingdom after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman twice at London’s Euston Station after she rejected his advances.
The convict, Obinwa Obichukwu, carried out the attacks on the evening of August 20, 2023, after approaching the woman, grabbing her hand and declaring his “love” for her.
According to the British Transport Police (BTP), Obichukwu initially approached the woman, who was walking alone towards the busy transport interchange, and attempted to strike up a conversation about the music she was listening to.
Investigators said he then placed his arm around her shoulders, invited her back to his home and continued pursuing her along Euston Road despite her lack of interest.
The court heard that Obichukwu sexually assaulted the woman at the entrance to Euston Station before following her down the escalator to the London Underground, where he assaulted her again near the ticket barriers.
The victim eventually managed to push him away and escape, leaving the suspect at the station.
British Transport Police officers later traced Obichukwu to his home in Armstrong Close, Hertfordshire, where he was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault.
Following a trial, he was convicted in January 2026. On July 21, 2026, the Inner London Crown Court sentenced him to two years’ imprisonment.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court imposed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), while Obichukwu will also remain on the UK sex offenders register for 10 years.
Reacting to the conviction, Detective Constable Daniel Burke described the offender as a dangerous sexual predator.
“Obinwa Obichukwu is a sexual predator who targeted a lone woman and attacked her at a busy London station. He claimed his assault was consensual and took his case to trial, but fortunately, the jury saw straight through his lies, and he’s now behind bars where he belongs.
“Tackling violence and intimidation against women and girls is a priority for us as a force, and we’re tireless in our efforts to bring offenders like Obichukwu to justice.
