The National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) has distanced itself from a purported 72-hour ultimatum reportedly issued to the Chairman of Odeda Local Government, Hon. (Dr.) Waliat Folasade Adeyemo, over the poor condition of the Camp–Osiele Road, describing the move as “mischievous, misdirected and an embarrassment to responsible student activism.”
In a statement signed by its National President, Comr. Olubodun Olalekan Opeyemi, the association said the individuals behind the publication were “faceless impostors” with no mandate to speak on behalf of Ogun State students.
NAOSS argued that the Camp–Osiele Road is a Federal Trunk A Road and that responsibility for its reconstruction rests with the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Works, not the Odeda Local Government.
According to the association, directing an ultimatum at the council chairman reflects a lack of understanding of constitutional responsibilities and amounts to an attempt to create unnecessary public controversy.
The student body said it rejects what it described as sensational activism, insisting that effective advocacy must be rooted in facts, constitutional knowledge and responsible engagement rather than publicity-driven campaigns.
While urging students to remain discerning, NAOSS maintained that accountability should be directed at the appropriate authority, calling on the Federal Government and the Federal Ministry of Works to urgently commence reconstruction of the Camp–Osiele Road.
The association also used the opportunity to commend the Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, for what it described as his contributions to education, infrastructure, youth empowerment and technology development across the district. It cited initiatives including ICT centres, digital skills training, road rehabilitation, solar-powered projects, healthcare interventions and empowerment programmes.
NAOSS reaffirmed its commitment to what it called responsible, informed and solution-driven advocacy, stressing that it would continue to promote constitutional accountability while rejecting actions it believes are based on misinformation.
