The Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Segun Ogunwuyi, has resigned his appointment, effective Monday, October 12, 2026.
Ogunwuyi announced his resignation in a letter dated October 12, 2026, in which he formally notified the governor of his decision to step down from the position.
His resignation comes amid a wave of departures by political appointees in the Makinde administration, with several aides reportedly leaving the government in the past two months.
A former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, Ogunwuyi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the state, describing his time in the administration as an honour.
In the resignation letter, he wrote, “I respectfully write to resign my appointment as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State, with effect from today, 12th October, 2026.”
Reflecting on his time in government, Ogunwuyi praised the administration’s efforts to promote development and improve the welfare of residents across the state.
“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration,” he stated.
He added that he remained proud of the administration’s collective efforts to advance the state’s growth and prosperity.
“I remain immensely proud of what we have collectively accomplished in advancing the growth, development and prosperity of our dear State. As I take this decision, I do so with profound gratitude for the opportunity to serve, with confidence in the continued progress of Oyo State,” the letter added.
Ogunwuyi concluded by reaffirming his respect for the governor and his commitment to the state and the country.
“Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest esteem and unwavering loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he wrote.
No reason for his resignation was stated in the letter.
