The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has informed the court that a legal opinion has been filed in the case involving Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, in connection with the death of late Favour.
According to an update posted on Facebook by Awele Ideal, counsel representing Favour’s family on a pro bono basis, the DPP told the court on Friday, September 18, that the legal opinion had been filed.
Awele said the opinion states that Ogbonna has a case to answer on allegations of rape and manslaughter.
She further disclosed that the formal information in the case is expected to be filed before the next court date.
The matter was subsequently adjourned to September 25, 2026, for a review of Ogbonna’s remand.
Ogbonna, according to the counsel’s update, remains in remand custody at the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.
Awele reaffirmed her commitment to representing Favour’s family on a pro bono basis and said she would continue to provide updates as the case progresses.
“Justice is everyone’s business,” she wrote, while calling for justice in the matter.
