The Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief Alaba Lawson has died, the Executive Secretary of Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ABEOCCIMA) AbdulRahman Maku disclosed.
Chief Alaba Lawson died at the age of 72 years.
She was born Alaba Oluwaseun Lawson, on January 18, 1951) was a Nigerian businesswoman, entrepreneur, educationist and the proprietress of Lawson Group of Schools Abeokuta
Lawson was also until her death, the Iyalode of Yorubaland. The revered title was bestowed on her by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi during the administration of Otunba Gbenga Daniel in Ogun State.
Oba Lamidi Adeyemi died on Friday, April 22, 2022.
Chief Alaba Lawson was a past president of Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ABEOCCIMA) and NACCIMA.
The news of her death was contained in a statement signed by the Executive Secretary of ABEOCCIMA, AbdulRahman Maku.
The statement reads partly , “WE REGRET TO ANNOUNCE THE DEMISE OF NACCIMA PAST PRESIDENT & ABEOCCIMA MATRON / CHAIRMAN, BOARD OF TRUSTEES, IYALODE ALABA LAWSON, MFR, F.IoD, JP (IYALODE OF YORUBALAND) WHICH OCCURRED IN THE EARLY HOURS OF TODAY SATURDAY 28TH OCTOBER 2023. BURIAL ARRANGEMENT TO BE ANNOUNCED LATER BY THE FAMILY.
“MAY GOD ALMIGHTY GRANT REPOSE TO SOUL OF IYALODE (AMEN).”
