Former governor of Ogun State, Senator Gbenga Daniel, has written to Governor Dapo Abiodun, pointing out of that since leaving office, he has not benefited from any welfare packages be it medical, furniture or transportation.
This is in Senator Daniel’s letter dated June 14, 2023 and addressed to Governor Dapo Abiodun, directing him to immediately suspend the monthly payment of N676,376.95kobo being gross payment for his pension and allowances as former governor of the Gateway State
Daniel is a member of the Nigeria’s 10th Senate and represents Ogun East Senatorial District. He succeeded ex – governor Aremo Olusegun Osoba as Governor and left office in May 2011 after overseeing the affairs of the state for 8 years on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The Senator made the welfare packages issue and his decision on suspending the monthly pension and allowances known on Friday morning through his official Twitter handle.
The tweet: “After my inauguration at the Senate, I wrote H.E Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, CON on June 14, 2023, to notify him of my decision to have the monthly payment of N676,376.95kobo being gross payment for my pension and allowances as former governor of the Ogun State suspended immediately.
“This decision, I made, in good conscience, moral principles and guiding ethics.
“It is also important to state that this is the only payment and package I get from the state government as a former governor.”
